NEW YEAR RESOLUTION... WITH A TWIST

I'm sure you're already well aware of the difficulties of keeping a New Year resolution.

You know…

  • struggling to keep those visits to the gym going

  • failing to keep practicing your new language,

  • sadly watching your weight go up instead of down

But before you give up completely on making a New Year Resolution this year, try this...

Get together with 3 or 4 trusted friends and each declare your own New Year Resolution in front of the others.

Once you’ve done that, your job is now twofold:

  1. keep to your resolution, and...

  2. help your friends keep to theirs

After a week, get together with them to see how you're all doing.

Talk about what’s working and what’s not.

Celebrate successes - even the small ones, sympathise with failures and get all the encouragement you can.

Share ideas of how to increase motivation.

Then after another week, repeat.

If you’re anything like me, you should find that doing this in a group can make a big difference to sticking to your plan.

What I’ve just described is a simplified version of a Learning Club, but it can still help learn how to keep your New Year Resolution intact.

All the best for the New Year and all your New Year Resolutions!
